To quote my husband, it “smells like I’m boiling a whole sheep.” Those were his words when he lifted the lid on the slow cooker. No, that’s not dinner gone horribly wrong, it’s my dyeing adventure part deux!
I am using some Jarbo Garn Gastrike 1tr and some Wilton’s food coloring in the slow cooker like I did on the previous dyeing adventure. In this picture, the dye is about halfway exhausted. It’s hard to tell because the dye stains the liners. Other than that minor inconvenience, they are a huge time-saver. (I just wiggle the slow cooker a bit to see the water slosh onto the non-dyed part of the liner to see if the water is clear or not.)
Speaking of the previous dyeing adventure… That is now dry and ready to be re-skeined. But, I was feeling lazy and did not get out the swift tonight. So here it is, in all of it’s un-re-skeined glory. I give you… SHERBET!
I have some more lace weight in the stash to be dyed. I think purple will be next. This whole dyeing thing has got me all excited. It’s fun because you never know what you’ll end up with. It’s like a magical colored surprise that I cook in my kitchen. Um, yeah… Enough of that.
