I needed a quick mental break and saw this survey pop up in my Reader, originally posted by The Life of Me & Mine. View my answers below.

I’m so pun-y, someone should stop me.
I just wanted to give a quick update on the dyeing going on at our house. I have successfully dyed a skein of wool! WOO!!! I was worried. I have a habit of not paying enough attention or not reading the directions fully or just being too darn impatient! This time, none of those things hurt my results. The wool did not felt, the color does not look like crap, and I did not destroy anything in my kitchen. All in all, a great success.
I used the dyeing tutorial from Knitty. You can find it here. Because I am starting to fall asleep a little, (Ambien is wonderful), I will make this brief and picture heavy.
I used Patons Classic Wool for this first attempt. Wilton’s food dye in red and yellow.
Step 1: I re-skeined it into a big skein. You can see my helper there in the background.
Step 2: Soaked it overnight in a vinegar/water solution (sorry, no pictures of yarn spaghetti).
Step 3: Added the color and cooked in the slow cooker until the water was clear. It took a couple of hours and I had to turn the heat down because it was starting to boil. Otherwise, piece ‘o cake.
Step 4: Rinse it and hang to dry.
Step 5: Enjoy. (We’ll get to this step later, when the yarn is completely dry…)
Also, I’ve been painting. I give you my four creations. Look at your own risk…
I’ve been a very bad blogger. I haven’t posted in 3 weeks. Yes, I should be publicly flogged.
I am on a diet. Not a yarn diet, a real diet. Sam and I went low-carb a week ago last Sunday. In the last 10 days, I have lost 9.4lbs. It’s been a little tough, but I feel strong and the weight loss is really encouraging. I’m in Ketosis!
On the yarn side, I have been naughty. I purchased 2 skeins of Lorna’s Laces in Blackberry. Along with that, I got 2 sets of 4″ HiyaHiya double points from The Knitting Zone. I’m getting used to the small, short DPNs, but so far, so good.
I have started a pair of Jaywalkers using the new DPNs and a skein of my Tofutsies. Yes, I know everyone is or has knitted Jaywalkers, but I’m a little slow to jump on the bandwagon. I am very pleased with how they are working up and pictures can be found in my Notebook on Ravelry. For those of you who haven’t joined up yet, here they are so far.
The Jaywalkers are from Grumperina, the brain behind MagKnits. The new MagKnits came out recently and has some very cute patterns. It’s a must for free patterns.
Other than the diet and yarn purchases, not much has been going on. My life has mostly been work, knit, sleep for the past 2 weeks.
So, I leave you with your weekly Chloe.
Chloe with my nephew Tyler. She’s hoping for tummy rubs.
I cut it all off. Well, not all of it. And *I* really didn’t cut it. To rephrase… I had Michael cut much of it off. See?
I cut it because it was just too hot. Today, the weather is cold and rainy. Talk about timing!
To forget about the weather, I give you yarn pretties.
It’s getting there! Maybe 2 more rows of blocks and then the ending triangles. I’m planning to finish it with a simple crochet border, perhaps in a contrasting yarn.
I also started the Boteh Scarf from Interweave Crochet this morning in a pretty colorway of SWTC Tofutsies. Hopefully pictures will follow if it looks like it’s going to turn out. I’m not sure if the colorway and the pattern are going to like each other.
Just a quick post to say:
The new issue of Knitty.com is out!!! What are you waiting for?!?!
GO!! NOW!! LOOK!! KNIT!!
