Wednesday Workday

I’m running on a new schedule (sort of) starting this week and so I’m little off my game.  I didn’t want to miss a day torturing you with my mundane life, so here is a gratuitous cat picture.

I was attempting to work on a new version of that brochure and she kept laying on top of it or getting in front of it so I couldn’t see the information I needed.  I think she wanted snuggles to make up for the traumatizing experience she endured earlier of getting her toenails clipped and being brushed.  We attempted to trim Nanook’s toenails, but about 3 claws in and she was growling, spitting, and biting.  I may have to take her to the vet and have it done there.  (Last time, it took the vet, 2 techs, and myself to do her claws…)

At some point I’ll show you actual yarn content.  I’ve got several things on the needles in various stages of completion.  January startitis is in full swing, but I’m trying to keep it under control. (HAH!)

Ringing in the New

I’m starting the new year out right.  Tea on the couch with a sleeping dog and a warm heater at my feet.

We stayed up just late enough to ring in the new year in style.  And by style, I mean in our PJs, in bed, and half asleep.  I fell asleep to the sound of small fireworks going off in the neighborhoods around us and slept in until nearly 10am.  My darling husband brought me coffee and breakfast in bed to top everything off.

I’ve puttered around a bit this morning, adding shelves to part of the new storage cupboard (more on that later).  I know you’re not supposed to wash or clean anything on New Year’s Day (superstition and whatnot), but I’m not one for those sorts of things.  If I get up the energy later on, I’m going to tidy the kitchen, put clean sheets on the bed, and maybe even make sure I have clean clothes for work tomorrow.  But for now, I’m just enjoying sitting in my warm house, admiring the new laminate floors (more on that later, too), and drinking tea.  Even a cat butt in the face can’t ruin this moment for me.

See?

Merry Xmas to All

Hope your holiday is warm and happy.  I’d post something more meaningful, but we’re busy playing Nintendo games and enjoying my new heater.  Instead, I give you Simon’s Cat in “Santa Claws” aka the reason we don’t have a tree this year.

Goings On

There’s been a lot going on around here.  We had laminate floors installed and repainted the main area of the house.  Tessa (Grandma’s cat) got adopted out to a lovely home and is doing quite well there.  My sister had her baby (welcome, Isaac!) and both are doing great.  He’s over a month old and is just as cute as can be.  And we’re gearing up for the holiday around these parts.

Oh yeah, one more thing…

We’ve got a little project in the works that should make an appearance sometime in mid-to-late June.

Cat Tail Hat

Inara often does this hilarious thing where she drapes her tail over Chloe’s head.  I was lucky enough to snap a photo of it with my phone.  Chloe is so tolerant…

Why Making the Bed is Hard

I should have started filming when she was completely encased under the fitted sheet, but I’m not that smart.  Nanook likes to “help” make the bed.  Tonight I have a lovely bleeding scratch on my pinky to show for it.  There would have been more injuries, but she was a little distracted with the birds outside the window.  Enjoy.

Blur

My life seems to be a blur lately.  Nothing but a flurry of activity.  I’m not complaining.

Yesterday was supposedly a day off for me, but due to a sick kid, I ended up going into work.  Aaand… I worked a 9 hour day.  The funny thing is, I don’t mind.  I certainly wouldn’t do it every day, but I’m enjoying my work so much that I wanted to keep going.  I’m currently working on a new website for the yarn shop, an e-newsletter, and the quarterly class schedule.  It’s a lot of stuff that has to be done all in a short period of time (i.e. yesterday).

On the upside, I’ve been working on getting to know my new camera.  I’ve finally managed some in focus shots! (I still have no idea what I’m doing with it.)

Saturday, I took a soft cheese making class and it was fascinating!  Plus, we got to sample all the different cheeses talked about.  They recommended this book.  I’m going to get the e-version when I get my iPad2.

Yes, I ordered an iPad2.  I’m a geek and proud of it.  In my defense, other than my laptop and my ancient iPod Mini, it’s the only other piece of Apple Tech that I’ll have.

In other random news, my cousin is finally getting the care he needs after having a horrible accident this summer.  Because his lovely girlfriend works from home, we (the family) have offered to assist in transportation to and from medical stuff.  Today is his MRI and I get to take him.

I’m also helping with homeschool PE at 2pm.  It’s a blast! (And not just because I get to chase kids with Nerf guns at the end…)

The pain that has been plaguing me seems to be getting better.  After talking to a friend in a similar situation and my other doctor, we think it was intestinal.  You’d be surprised how good wheat bran, prune juice, and applesauce taste when mixed together.  Especially when you put it in yogurt with a little marionberry jam.

(Sam took this picture of Nan.  I know that because it was followed by pictures of my boobs.)

I haven’t been roller skating in almost 2 weeks.  I’m going today.  And probably tomorrow.

I have sewing to do for several different babies, all due within the next couple of months.  I have 6 friends/family who are pregnant and due between April and November.  There is not enough time for all the knitting and sewing that needs to happen.

Sometimes, I wish I could clone myself.  But then I might not have all the fun.

2011

The new year has come in with a ring.  At least that’s what my left ear is saying.  Since I’m starting out this new year with an ear infection, I’m giving you this cute picture to look at instead.  When I can hear again and no longer feel like crap, I’ll get back to real content.

Chloe & Nanook, napping on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
