How Fast are You?

22 04 2008

With all the overtime, I just haven’t had it in me to post lately. I am almost finished with a pair of newborn socks for a co-worker’s brand new baby. Once I double check it, the pattern will be up here for your viewing pleasure. I think I’ll add a couple of sizes to it, so it may be a bit. I know, I’m such a tease!

Besides working (and occasional knitting), I’ve made bread, and brownies, and more brownies, and other food… I’ve been having major food cravings lately. I’ve been thinking about food, reading about food, planning food, cooking food… I think I’m gaining weight just writing this!

Somethign Fun:
I found this earlier through one of my feeds… My personal best so far (today) is 112 wpm with zero errors. I’m currently ranked 579 of 129,395. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Fabric Nation

6 04 2008

I made a recent visit to the fabric store.  I came home with several cuts of fabric in both flannel and cotton.  I’m pretty pleased with what I got.  Much of it will become baby bibs out of the new book I purchased Bend-the-Rules Sewing.  Some of it will just become part of the fabric stash for now.

I have paired the bib fabric together to show the stripes and complimentary prints.

I also made bread today, but since the batteries are dead on the camera, no pictures.  I can tell you it was delicious!

Instant Gratification

Just a quick post…  I think I’m in love with the Crochet Dude!  Well, not really… But I am very taken with his patterns!  While watching Good Eats this evening, I completed a set of four flip flop coasters.

I think I’m going to make the set double by making white ones with the thong part in the 4 colors pictured.  I may add yellow and/or purple to the set as well.   These are going to be the sample for a Saturday Market class at the shop.  I’m also planning to make a set for my cousin for her wedding.  And maybe a set for my friend who hosts our Tuesday night SNB.  And maybe a set for… Good grief!  These are addicting!

And then… the Cable Car Hobo bag!!  I’m pretty sure I had a dream about that bag last night.  It will be the perfect thing to go with my new paisley wallet from Torrid.  I picked that up tonight plus a pair of new shoes…   They were plaid, I couldn’t help it!  (I don’t think I should be allowed to go into Torrid alone.  Or with just Paula.  I’m pretty sure there needs to be a husband there to stop me.  It’s like I walk in and my brain is left at the door.)

The Noah’s Ark blanket is nearly complete.  The ship is half done, the Giraffe is almost done, so that just leaves the elephant, the bird, the fish, the turtle, and the rest of the ship.  I’ve also added this to my queue.  Like I said, crochet urges…

Crochet Urges

3 04 2008

I’ve been drawn back to my original craft of crochet lately.  I’ve nearly completed the Noah’s Ark blanket from the most recent issue of Crochet! and I find myself wanting more.  It’s been a while since I have been able to crochet without intense pain, but it seems to be possible again for short periods of time.  Perhaps the violin lessons are helping to strengthen and stretch out that wrist?  Who knows…  But, back to crochet.

I have recently discovered the Crochet Dude.  Yes, I know, I’m a little late.  But I’m absolutely taken with his Flip Flop Coasters (I have plans for several sets), the Chic on the Half Shell Bag, and the piece de resistance (I know I spelled that wrong…), the Cable Car Hobo.  I have a feeling that this bag pattern will join my collection shortly.  But, I must finish the Noah’s Ark blanket first.  I’m trying to limit the rate at which I accumulate projects and patterns.  (Stop snickering over there!  I’m being somewhat successful…)

On other notes, I am feeling much better.  I missed 2.5 days of work, which is very unusual for me.  But, to make up for it, my supervisor has asked that we (as a department) work as much overtime as possible for the month of April (minimum of 20 hours total per employee).  We have 12,000 SKUs to build in by April 30th and it’s going to be a tight squeeze.  That being said, you may not see much of me for the next month.  I will try to post as much as possible, but I may not be incredibly successful.

P.S.

My seeds have sprouted!  I have starts of cucumbers, squash, hot peppers, tomatoes, and (finally) the purple peppers sprouted this morning.  I see gardening in my future…
